Next morning we went round to Peter's where Richard had stayed overnight; Richard I'd met on both the Hebrides trip last year and the Skye trip the year before.
Guess what? When I set off from the hotel to go to Peter's, my speedometer wasn't working, so I spent the whole of the tour without knowing my speed, and no idea how far we travelled. (I later used the fuel consumption to estimate about 570 miles on the tour itself, plus about 600 miles travelling to and from Scotland.)
Richard's wife Jackie was due to arrive at Glasgow Airport this morning, and Richard had to go there to pick her up, then race to Aberdeen to meet us at the ferry.

We went a scenic route, and stopped at Dunnotar Castle, perched high on a cliff-top (does my vertigo no good at all).
When we arrived at the Aberdeen ferry terminal, Richard and Jackie were already there, so they'd made good time.
We spent the night on the ferry travelling to the Shetland Isles.
