Because of the weather, we didn't do the route that Peter had expected. At a cafe, Peter was told the radar station at [I don't know where] was no longer restricted. So, knowing the views from there should be good, up we went, past signs saying "Restricted", "Four wheel drive vehicles only", "No unauthorized access". The radar station appeared deserted, and we were able to infiltrate our way into and around it. The views were phenominal.
There were several species of birds. I'm no ornithologist, I think this is a bonxie or great skua. If anyone can confirm or knows any different, please email me.
On the way up we passed what appeared to be a Viking ship. As we went back, we stopped to examine it. I can't believe it's a genuine one, its condition was much too good. It did seem to be constructed without modern fastenings etc, but it was let down by what seemed to be a GPS aerial at the prow.
