Day 1, 27th May: [Linlithgow to Gairloch]

Summary: Linlithgow to Gairloch via Inverness. Some busy main roads, but Peter finds the old interesting alternatives.

Weather: cool, 9 to 12C (48 to 64F).

How's that for a road?

Passage grave at Cava

On to Cava, another pre-historic burial site.

We visited where the Battle of Cullodon was fought, Peter told us some of the gory details. Not nice.

The Myrtle Bank Hotel ...
... overlooking the sea to Skye

We arrived at the hotel in Gairloch with its beautiful views over the sea to Skye

Approximate day's statistics: 244 miles, 53.3 mpg (UK), 44.4 mpg (US).
